BÉRARD
Rich colours and grain of Olivewood, Beech and Walnut
Located in the Royans Mountains along the northern edge of Provence in France, Bérard has specialised in creating true French hand-crafted artisan items for the kitchen and home since 1892. Today’s products are backed by more than century of know how and experience.
Hand-crafted from carefully selected olivewood and other selected timber.
By utilising the branches of the olivewood trees to create their products the trees are allowed to continue to grow and thrive for centuries to come.
The craftsmanship of each item is highlighted by the patterns and grain of the wood used. The irregular veins, grains and knots of each piece of wood gives every kitchen tool its very own distinctive character and ensures that no two items are identical.
The expert craftsman at the Bérard manufacturing unit take it one step further by handcrafting each piece differently, based on the characteristics of the wood that is used. The blend of beeswax and mineral oil that is rubbed into the finished product helps protect the wood and gives the finished product a lovely satin finish.
Since 1892, Bérard have developed their products according to the art of French living and a southern French spirit of sharing and merriment.
The company’s deep respect for the environment and commitment to responsible wood sourcing is abundantly evident in their green practices. All raw materials are procured from sustainably managed, FSC certified forests, which only adds to the beauty of the finished products. The wood is harvested from older trees that are no longer fruit-bearing, thus creating functional art from trees that would have otherwise been destroyed. 100% of the wood is used in the manufacturing process.
It’s not surprising then that Bérard is the number one choice for anyone looking for wooden kitchen items that combine beauty, functionality and sustainability in ample measure.
